Arthur MOYSE

1914-2003

Arthur Moyse was a self-taught Irish-origin London artist who spent most of his career as a bus conductor. An anarchist, who painted watercolours mixing Hogarthian morality and Surrealism, Moyse showed extensively in London galleries, including Angela Flowers. As art critic for Freedom Press, Moyse was a well-known part of the London art scene and also a talented writer. Arts Council holds his work Private View, which was donated by his friend George Melly. Chelsea Arts Club also has one work in its collection.
